In Tap Defense, players have to set up defensive towers to keep invading forces at bay. There are 7 different types of towers that can stop the invaders, and some have special effects, like slowing down the enemy. The ultimate goal is to not let the invaders get to the end of the map. For each successful round, players earn money with which they can buy more towers and purchase tower upgrades. More enemies with new characteristics appear as the game continues, so it is imperative that players continually buy new towers and upgrade their defenses. The game features minimal cartoon violence but no blood or other offensive content and is relatively easy to learn and play, making it recommended for players ages 7 and up.

This Game is Good for Kids Who Need Help With:

Organization

Arranging and coordinating materials and activities in order to complete a task.

In Tap Defense, good Organization skills are needed to come up with an efficient and logical placement for the various towers in the game. Creating a well-balanced defense is important, and players need to spread out their firepower strategically, as enemies will keep moving unless they are wiped out. Different towers have different affects on the enemy (like slowing them down), so players need to organize the battlefield to maximize such affects, perhaps setting up explosive towers near where the enemy slows. As enemies evolve and increase in number, the ability to adequately organize tower defenses becomes even more critical to success.

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Given that there are a total of 7 different towers and 8 unique enemies, there is a great deal of consideration that goes into tower placement before starting a level. Planning skills are vital in this context in order to maximize enemy kills and minimize the loss of player lives. Players must take the time to decide which towers are best suited for different invasions, as each tower has three elements to consider: damage points, firing rate, and firing range. Money also needs to be saved to buy bigger, more powerful towers. Only by carefully considering which towers to buy, their placement, and saving and spending money wisely can players hope to form a solid defense.
