Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is a farming and life management simulation game. The player plays a character who is setting sail for a new life when a storm causes their ship to wreck on an island. There are people on the island, but the town is rundown and the lighthouse is broken. It is up to the player to help rebuild the town back up to its former glory by farming, harvesting, raising animals, and doing favors for the people in the town. The player can even meet someone and start a family on the island!

Players move through the game on a limited time frame, meaning that there are a limited number of hours in the day to accomplish tasks. Players also have a limited inventory and limited energy which can be spent on tasks. As the player progresses through the game, they can increase these abilities, meaning that they can accomplish more in a day and carry more items with them.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope is rated E for Everyone.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope  helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Because the player has a finite amount of time each day and a limited amount of energy, they need to use their planning skills in order to make plans for each day and prioritize tasks so that they do not run out of time or energy. Planning can also come in handy when figuring out how the in-game money will be spent.

Organization: Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

Players must also use their organization skills to manage their in-game inventory. As players chop down trees, pick flowers, and harvest crops, they will add what they have collected to their inventory. Players need to make sure that there is enough room in their inventory to house all of these items while not carrying around unnecessary items as well.
