Letter Fridge is a fun word puzzle game where you take virtual letter refrigerator magnets and move them around to create words to solve a puzzle. After each puzzle is solved, you will move along a completion track for an item of food on your shopping list. Getting to 100% with this food item means you can cross it off your list and move to another.

The puzzles start off simple with three letter words and minimal options for combinations but increase in difficulty as you cross more items off of your shopping list. You can also find bonus words that are not in the puzzle for extra coins or solve the extra bonus word by looking at a “hint memo” that is attached to the refrigerator. Your coins can be used to purchase additional hints if you are stuck on a particular puzzle.

Letter Fridge is a free-to-play game but certain in-app purchases are available. The game is available for iPad and iPhone now.

Letter Fridge helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Working Memory: Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.

In order to finish the puzzles and find as many bonus words as possible, the player needs to keep the spelling of words in their head as they manipulate the fridge magnets to spell out the word on the screen. For players who struggle with working memory, this can be difficult, so the game starts off with simple words that are no more than three letters in length. The player can then build up to tackling longer and more complicated words. Players can also try writing the words out on paper before trying to manipulate the letters on the fridge.

Organization: Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

In order to complete the levels as quickly as possible and finish the grocery item they are working on, the player needs to organize the letters on the refrigerator in order to solve the puzzle as efficiently as possible. For players who struggle with organization, they may find it difficult to see the word possibilities on the refrigerator because they are jumbled and disorganized. The game starts off with very few letters and simple puzzles, giving the player time to practice organizing the letters on the refrigerator so that they are prepared for when harder puzzles appear.
