Word Serenity is a game where the player uses bubbles of pre-selected letters in order to spell out certain words. At the beginning of each level, the player receives a clue such as “Fairy Tales.” The player then needs to combine all the letters within the bubbles to create words that fit into this particular category. Players earn bonus points for spelling out additional words that are not part of the pre-set list of words. Completing puzzles earns the player coins which can be spent on hints for when the player is stuck or cannot solve a particular puzzle.

Word Serenity also features grammatical puzzles where the player needs to choose the correct word to complete a sentence. For example, they might need to complete a sentence by choosing the correct version of the words their/there/they’re. These types of puzzles are unlocked after the user reaches a certain level within the game. The player can also unlock tile-style puzzles where the user completes crossword puzzles using the same style of bubbles from previous puzzles.

Word Serenity is free to play but certain features require in-app purchases. Parents are encouraged to purchase the ad-free version of the game for their children as some of the ads may not be appropriate for children and occur after every puzzle. The game is available on iOS and Android.

Word Serenity helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Working Memory: Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.

In order to complete a puzzle and move to the next level, the player needs to use their working memory skills to recall how words are spelled as they are in the act of tapping the different bubbles to form words. For players who struggle with working memory, using the rearrange function in the game may help them see the letters in different combinations and make it easier to form words. The game also helps the player by showing them how many words they need to collect and how many letters are in each of those words. This makes it a little easier for the player to know how many letters they need for the word, which can help with spelling. Players can also use hints if they need just a little extra help getting started.

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

By completing levels and finding additional words that were not in the puzzle, the player can earn coins. With these coins, the player can purchase hints for when they are stuck on a certain word or level. The player needs to use their planning skills with their coins because they are a finite resource. Unless the player wants to spend real money on extra hint coins, they need to save and budget to use the coins only when they truly are stuck and need a hint. Players who struggle with planning may find that they run out of coins too quickly and need to struggle through a puzzle or purchase additional hint coins. For these players, making a plan to use the coins much like a bank account can help budget them out for when they are truly needed.
