Toki Tori is a puzzle-based platforming game that tasks the player with guiding a small chick across 2D levels in an effort to collect eggs. The player uses an array of zany items to avoid hazards, dodge enemies, and navigate the area creating blocks, teleporting objects, and defeating enemies along the way. If the player makes a mistake (like using up all her items too early), she can rewind the game to a previous point and try again without having to restart the whole level. The game does not contain any inappropriate content, the puzzles are suitable for most children, and the controls are easy to learn, so Toki Tori is recommended to players ages 5 and up.

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
Toki Tori is puzzle game that relies heavily on planning. Each level will have numerous obstacles standing in the way of the player, and before beginning, the player should create a basic game-plan. First, she must visually locate the eggs scattered about the level, taking note of which items and abilities the game has given her to use. Then, she must decide how and when she should use them. If the player rushes forward and uses them without a plan, she will likely have to rewind and try again.
For example, the game might give the player two uses of the teleport ability and three uses of the freeze gun. Deciding in advance where to use these abilities will ensure they don't run out before they have been properly used by the player.
Recalling and retaining information in her mind while working.
When a player's game-plan fails her, she can use her Working Memory skills to get back on track. Mistakes are common in Toki Tori, but luckily the player can "rewind" the game to fix past mistakes. For instance, a player may make her plan at the beginning of the level only to reach the final egg and realize that there is no way to collect it, perhaps because she has used up the needed teleportation item. Instead of starting over, she should use the rewind tool to retrace her steps back to a point where she she still had the teleport ability. That way she can adjust her plan on the fly and see how she might have unnecessarily used the power earlier in the level. She can then save that teleport ability for the end and retrace her steps correctly to finish the level.
