Sumikko Gurashi Farm is a game that features the san-x characters called Sumikko Gurashi. The game starts with a short story about the characters going to a small abandoned farm and taking up the task to renovate and revitalize it. The player must build shops, plant and harvest crops, fill product orders for locals, and decorate the farm with furniture you build. Filling orders provides you with coins which can be used to expand your territory, plant more crops, and build furniture. There are also quests that can be completed to earn you extra coins, experience, and gems.

Once enough experience is earned, players earn gems which can be used to bypass time constrictions that are tied to various aspects of the game (i.e. length of time to make items, build shops, etc.)

Sumikko Gurashi Farm is free to play but in-app purchases are available. Because there is reading involved in certain aspects of the game, it is recommended for students who are able to read or who can receive assistance from an adult.

Sumikko Gurashi Farm   helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

In order to successfully run the Sumikko Gurashi farm, the player needs to have good planning skills. Because there are so many small projects that need to be completed, the player needs to determine what their priorities are when it comes to the use of resources. If they are going to try to accomplish the quests, they need to focus on that activity; if they want to fulfill orders for the locals, they need to direct their resources that way. Also, because everything in the game takes time, the player needs to be aware of how many gems that they have to cut down the time. If the player does not have any gems, they need to be aware of how long they need to wait before they can progress with a certain project.

Organization: Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

There are many aspects of the game that require you to keep track of the amounts of various items in your inventory. For example, if you want to fill orders for the locals of the town, you need to be aware of what they want and if you have to harvest or create items to meet their needs. Players who struggle with organization may find that this game helps them keep track of various items in a low-stakes environment. Because there are no time penalties, you can take your time familiarizing yourself with the inventory and the item crafting system and then work your way up to developing your own system of organization.
