Star Wars Kinect offers players the chance to relive some of the most memorable moments in the popular science fiction film franchise. Each level in the game has players performing a number of actions (all controlled with their own body motions) that correspond with moments in the game. From lightsaber duels, to riding speeders through a dense jungle and even dancing with Princess Leia, players will perform a wide variety of actions throughout their gameplay experience. Star Wars Kinect contains moderate fantasy violence and instances of strong language, as well as an optional dancing mini-game featuring female characters in revealing outfits. Due to these considerations, Star Wars Kinect is only recommended to players ages 13 and up.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Self-Control

Managing our feelings, actions and behaviors.

As with other motion-controlled games, Star Wars Kinect requires players to perform movements that correspond with actions being taken by the characters on-screen. Inaccurate movements often won't be registered by the game, causing the character to not respond as intended. These instances, although rare if being played as intended, can be very frustrating or jarring for players, especially if it causes them to fail a segment of the game. When this occurs, players should resist becoming frustrated and instead adjust their play style, remaining calm and making careful, controlled motions as they play. During gameplay, it can be tempting to perform frantic, impulsive actions. Players should be aware that the game is not designed to be played in this way, and doing so will actually detract from the experience.

Working Memory

Recalling and retaining information in her mind while working.

Each segment in the game will have players performing a unique set of actions related to the character they control. For instance, when controlling a Jedi, players must recall that the right arm controls the lightsaber, while the left arm controls force powers, while crouching and jumping controls the character's movements. Immediately following a Jedi segment, players can be thrown into vehicle combat, where the arms control the accelerator and brake while leaning left and right controls steering. The ability to recall these actions while in the midst of a battle or race requires players to quickly recall the game's many motion commands on-the-fly. Furthermore, during tough segments of the game, memorizing the layout of levels and the locations of certian enemies or obstacles can make getting through such areas much easier.
