In Solomon’s Keep, players take on the role of a young wizard, who must storm the dark castle of Solomon as his final task to graduate from wizarding school. Armed only with the elements and a magical key, players explore the floors of the dark wizard’s keep, defeating his evil minions, collecting ancient treasures and eventually confronting Solomon himself. Solomon’s Keep uses touch screen controls to navigate and explore the castle. As players defeat increasingly challenging enemies, they collect experience points to gain new skills and gold to buy items that enhance their magical abilities. Since the layout of each floor is randomly generated with ‘themes’ of enemies, players must learn the most effective attacks from their arsenal and manage their energy and items effectively in order to succeed. Kids ages twelve and older will enjoy Solomon’s Keep in depth leveling system and humorous character dialogue.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Working Memory

Recalling and retaining information in her mind while working.

Solomon's Keep requires players to learn about enemies and their abilities based on their appearance and find the best attacks to defeat each one. For instance, an enemy wreathed in flame is best effected by ice attacks, and slow moving bosses can be out-maneuvered using speed boost attacks. Each type of attack, represented by a different symbol on the side of the screen, must be activated on use, making players remember what symbol stands for each ability, as well as the best times to each one. Players must recall visual cues with both enemies and skills in order to make the best use of their magic or their attacks will be ineffective.

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Players must plan out the best use of energy, items, gold, and equipment in order to advance through the levels of Solomon's Keep. Each magical ability costs energy to use;. Using the wrong abilities results in ineffective attacks, and players may also need to plan on what items or equipment to use for particularly difficult fights against bosses or large groups of enemies. If a boss is weak against fire spells, using a staff that boosts fire attacks may be the added edge to help players win. In order to buy better items and equipment, players must plan out the collection and use of their gold when they explore the castle.

Flexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

Each floor and enemy type in Solomon's Keep is randomly generated, requiring players to adapt and change their approaches every time they enter a new area in the castle. Players must constantly readjust their approach while exploring the castle, defeating enemies as they grow stronger and using their magical abilities in new and creative ways. Players who are unable to vary their techniques and think outside the box will find difficulty in advancing through higher levels of the dark wizard's castle, as enemies change and environments shift, with level of difficultyramping up.
