Old Friends Dog Game is a management simulator/idle game/visual novel where you play as the owner of a new home for elderly dogs. You start with one dog named Mack, and gradually unlock levels which allow you to adopt more dogs. As the owner of the sanctuary, the player must keep the dogs fed, comfortable, entertained, and loved. By clicking on items like dog food, sticks, rubber balls, and bones, and dragging them over to the dog that needs them, the player begins to earn trust points. Each dog has their own individual story; chapters can be unlocked by earning dog trust.

The game also features challenges that can earn the player currency, furniture, items, and food to help you run your sanctuary. The player can also run a dog blog and a live video streaming service to earn more currency from their “fans.”

Players can also cook treats for their dogs, build furniture for them to sleep on, and purchase cute outfits for them to wear. Each dog comes with its own story and a photo of a real life dog that inspired them. Every dog in the game is based on an animal in a real shelter, whose website can be found inside the app.

Old Friends Dog Game is free to play but features in-app purchases. Portions of in-app purchases go towards the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary. The app is available now on Android and iOS.

Old Friends Dog Game helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Running a sanctuary for old dogs takes a lot of resources. You need to feed the dogs, provide them with toys, and buy supplies to make furniture for them to sleep on. The currency you use in the game comes from the fans of your blog and video streaming services. The more you engage with your fans, the more money you will receive for your shelter. The player needs to look at how much money they currently have and budget out what they will spend on food, ingredients for snacks, toys, etc. For players who struggle with planning, they may find themselves spending too much money in one area and then needing to save up over time for the other shelter necessities. Players should look at the basics of what each dog needs and make sure that they balance out their purchases so that there is enough of everything for each dog.

Time Management: Estimating time for future activities.

Whether you are baking dog doughnuts, live streaming your pups’ antics, or estimating how hungry your dogs currently are, everything in the game takes time. Players need to use their time management skills and be aware of when they need to check back in with their dogs. Feeding, entertaining, and petting your dogs is how you gain loyalty and level up within the game so keeping an eye on how much time you have before your next petting session can help you earn the most loyalty the fastest. Players who struggle with time management should check their schedule frequently by clicking on each dog and making a note of how much time they have left before they require food, toys, etc.
