Toliti is a word search game with a dose of match-three game thrown in. The player hunts for words on a grid of honeycomb shaped letters. Each level has different sized grids and there are a several different power-ups to help, if needed.
As the player clears the grid of letters (by connecting the tiles to spell out words) new letters fall into the grid from above. Each level also has a set of goals telling the player how many letters each word they find has to have. This could be something simple like 15 four-letter words or something more complex like 6 four—letter words, 4 five-letter words, and one seven-letter word. There are also goals that cross several levels, such as using 100 unique words.
Toliti has in-game purchases available. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone and LW4K stands by this rating. Since the game does center around words and spelling, this game requires a certain level of writing skills. The player will need to be able to spell seven-letter words to complete many levels of this game.
Toliti helps kids practice and improve the following skills:
Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.
Every level in this game has a timer. There are also a certain number of words that have to be found, with some restraints on how many letters each word has to have. This means that time management skills are very important when playing this game. The player must estimate how long they can spend on each word and then keep pace with their estimate, or they will run out of time. If they run out of time, they will lose a life and have to redo the level. If they lose all their lives, they will have to wait twenty minutes for a new one to regenerate.
Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.
The player has lots of opportunities to earn power-ups in this game. In order to earn them, however, the player will have to complete levels and goals. This means they will be flexing their working memory skills. The player has to be able too remember what the goals are in order to complete them. If they don’t work on their forgetfulness, they will fail to complete levels and goals. This will result in them having fewer power-ups and make the game harder to complete.
