SpellTower Plus is essentially a word find game. Instead of being given a list of specific words to find, however, the player can find and select any words they can see. When the player selects letter tiles to form a word, the tiles disappear. Any special effects are activated and another row of letters is added. The goal is to make as many words as possible before the pile of letters reaches the top of the screen.
There are in-game purchases, including a full game unlock and ad removal, in SpellTower Plus. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone and LW4K stands by this rating. However, it is a reading and spelling based game. Players need to be able to find and spell three letter words (or longer). This game is best for seven year olds or older.
SpellTower Plus helps kids practice and improve the following skills:
Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.
This game requires the player to look at a mass of jumbled letters and organize them into words, hold that organization in their head, and then execute it by connecting the letters in the right order. The the player had to do it all over again when the letters have settled into their new order on the playing field. If the player is going to get the highest points possible, they should carry it one step further and use their organization skills to plan one or more moves ahead. Doing this properly will allow them to, in a sense, rearrange the letters so they can make longer words.
Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
Using planning skills is another important aspect of this game. If the player chooses the first word they see, they are most likely going to be choosing the and four letter words. While this is allowed, it is not the best way to make a lot of points. It also means that the player is likely not posing attention to the height of their letter pile. If they want lots of points and the chance to make as many words as possible, they have to be making a plan to find longer words and words all over the board.
