Om Nom Run has endless runner style game play with the twist of having specific levels and ending points, rather than play-til-you-fail levels. Each level has a specific mission, such as run a certain distance, collect tokens, or perform tricks. Each level also has three stars that can be earned. Run 300 meters (for example) and earn one star, but run 500 meters and you will earn three stars.
The player can also collect coins to spend on upgrading their Om Nom or buying new characters. There is a prize wheel and a daily prize. Om Nom Run also has a free run mode and contests like the stunt championship.
The ESRB rated it E for Everyone and LW4K stands by this rating. There are also in-game ads and purchases.
Om Nom Run helps kids practice and improve the following skills:
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
As with all running style apps, focus is very important. The player gets a chance to practice ignoring internal and external distractions, whether they are playing the free run or the missions. When participating in a contest or attempting to clear missions, they also get to practice switching focus between two different goals. Either way, the better the player uses their focus skills, the better they will be at the game. This means more coins, more upgrades, and more competitions won.
Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.
Because of the competitions and the missions, this game offers a greater opportunity to practice memory skills. While the missions are listed at the top of the screen as a reference, if the player takes their eyes off the path even for a second, they can easily mess up. Remembering the mission without looking at the reference means you have a better chance of succeeding. That means more gold, more locations, and higher ranking in the competitions.
