Logic Traces is a puzzle game in which players must work their way through grid-based levels by organizing segments of lines. The number in the middle of the spot tells you how many spaces that dot can spread across up, down, left, and/or right. You win a level when all number values have been reduced to zero, meaning the entire grid has been filled in. Progressively, levels will grow larger in scope and size, forcing players to become more strategic and considerate of how the dots can spread. Logic Traces is rated E for Everyone, and Learning Works for Kids (LW4K) stands by this rating. We recommend Logic Traces for players 8 and up, as these kids will get the most from the organization and planning practice offered by the game.
Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.
Each level of Logic Traces challenges you to organize the lines in a particular manner. Figuring out how far a dot can stretch and which spaces can only be reached by one particular dot is hugely important to learn how to solve each puzzle. As the grids get bigger, the numbers grow larger, forcing you to manage dots that present many more possibilities, make the levels that much harder to solve.
Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
Before dragging the dots in various directions, it helps to take a step back and look at each level as a whole. Sometimes, planning will enable a player to see the answer before moving a single dot. By permitting oneself to do this, especially in the later levels, the player will progress through the levels more quickly and skillfully. And when a plan doesn't work out and there is one dot stretched too far in one direction, a player can better plan on the next attempt. Working in this manner allows the player to gather important pieces of knowledge with each try.
