Cubor is a puzzle game where the player moves cubes around a grid in an effort to match the cubes with their color and shape. Each cube has a specific side that must land on the target. The player is trying to get the cube in the right position and location in the least number of moves possible. The fewer moves used, the more stars earned. The game has puzzle levels and daily levels. There are also tools to see different sides of the board in order to make a better plan.

This does have in-game ads, as well as the option of purchasing a “no ads” version of Cubor. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone. LW4K stands by this rating.

Cubor helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

PlanningCubor

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

This game presents a puzzle and asks the player to solve it in the least number of moves possible. This means the player needs to use their problem solving skills and also needs to make a short-term plan (although some levels will also require a longer plan with more moves). If the player does not take the time to plan out which cube to start with and which moves to make, they will rapidly end up with 30 or more moves for a level—and up not getting three stars.

Self-Control

Managing our actions, feelings, and behaviors.

Because of the move limits, this game provides a great chance to practice various aspects of self-control. First, the player has to have impulse control. It can be really easy to get swept away moving the first, easiest looking cube straight to its target. But that is not always the best place to start a level. The player also has to practice thinking about the future. The best plans will be made when the player stops and thinks about not just the next move, but five and ten moves ahead (or more). The more they consider how the future will look, the stronger their plan will be and the more stars they will earn.
