Chuck E. Cheese’s Skate Universe is a running game put out by the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. The player controls Chuck E. Cheese on a skateboard, moving away rather than in a side scrolling motion. Chuck E. must collect pizza while ducking under, swerving around, and jumping (or double jumping) over obstacles.

There are two lands available, with another available as an in-app purchase, as well as many helmets and skateboards to unlock. Playing the game also earns the player tickets that can be printed off and taken in to Chuck E. Cheese’s and used to purchase prizes in the restaurant. The game got an E for Everyone rating and LW4K stands by this rating.

Chuck E. Cheese's Skate Universe helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Chuck E. Cheese's Skate UniverseFocus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

Skate Universe is chock full of obstacles for the player to avoid. This means there is ample opportunity for a player to practice focus skills, specifically practicing sustaining attention on long-term tasks. There is no limit to how long Chuck E. can run, but his skateboard does get faster and faster the longer the round goes. This means that the player needs to be able to maintain and sustain their focus if they want to keep playing the game--and earning tickets. If they do not, they will crash and the round will be over. And the only way to earn more tickets is for the player to go longer than they have previously.

Self-Control

Managing our actions, feelings, and behaviors.

Because the game gets faster the longer it is played, and there are many obstacles to avoid, Skate Universe gives the player the chance to practice managing anger and frustration. Each time Chuck E. crashes into a tablet or candy cane, the player has the chance to choose whether or not they will stay calm or they will get frustrated and angry. If they stay calm, they will be more likely to continue to get better and earn more tickets. If they do not, the player will find it more difficult to avoid obstacles and will be unable to earn more tickets or unlock more gear.
