Farm Story is a game that lets you create your own virtual farm. Players start out with a small plot of land and begin planting crops. As the crops grow, players earn money from harvesting them and eventually get more land to use. Money from harvesting land can then be used to buy more items, buildings or different kinds of crops to plant. Farm Story lets players operate their farm as they wish, maintaining it for simple enjoyment, tackling quests, or simply helping out other farmers. The game does not contain any offensive or inappropriate content, however it does require some basic reading capabilities. In consideration of this, Farm Story is recommended for players seven and older.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Organization

Arranging and coordinating materials and activities in order to complete a task.

Farm Story gives players an allotted amount of farm land to work with, along with goals to reach. As they complete these goals, their farm grows, giving them more crops to grow and more land work on. Players should organize their farm by crop and know where each group of seeds grow, as they will soon have multiple crops growing at once. Once crops are harvested, players can re-plow the land and plant new kinds of crops. Instead of planting anything anywhere, players should refer to their objectives and organize their farm logically. If crops are placed scattered around the farm sporadically, it can be come quite cumbersome to harvest them all in time. By growing the needed amount of each plant they will advance the game, earning new objectives to achieve.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

Some quests are only available for a limited period of time and contain exclusive rewards that otherwise can not be obtained. In order to not miss out on special items or prizes, players must pay attention to how they are using the their time when playing the game. This way, they can be sure to prioritize necessary tasks to get closer to achieving the goal, as opposed to wasting time with tasks having nothing to do with the quest. Time Management skills are also used when considering what plants to crop. If players need money quickly, they can use their time wisely by planting quick-harvesting crops like raspberries, which are ready in just one minute. This is a much better idea than planting corn, which takes a full twenty-four hours. Also, players need to stagger their planting so that they never have long periods of time where nothing is ready to be harvested. This means growing easy short-term crops to earn money while their more time-consuming vegetables and grains grow.
