Crazy Kings is a tower defense game with elements of card-battling mixed in. This means the player collects, levels up, and equips cards before heading into battle. Once in the battle, however, the cards activate and become battle towers. The towers then fight off waves of enemies. It takes place in a fantasy world, with heroes and beasts (such as minotaurs). The player receives a limited amount of energy to use on levels, a limited amount of magic for using cards in a level, and a limited amount of health for their main character. The ESRB gave Crazy Kings an E10+ rating for infrequent/mild cartoon or fantasy violence. We stand by this rating.

Crazy Kings helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

PlanningCrazy Kings

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

The best way to be successful in Crazy Kings is to have a plan. The player must have a short-term plan for which levels to use their limited energy points on. They must also have a longer plan when they enter a level to determine which towers to activate and where to activate them on the battle map. Poorly placed towers can result in being overrun by monsters, the hero dying, and the player losing the level. To make the best long-term plan, the player will also need to use their problem solving skills to consider multiple pieces of information: the cards they have available, how much magic each card uses, where towers can be placed, and where in the level enemies are allowed to enter from. Using all of these cognitive skills together is important for the player to get the most stars in a level--and the best rewards. If they don't, the storyline won't advance and the player's cards won't get stronger.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

In the game of Crazy Kings, time management is another important thinking skill for the player to use. First, there is a limited amount of time before a battle starts. The player is given this time to decide which towers to build and where to build them. If they take too long, though, the monsters will attack before the player is ready. The player also gets time between each wave to upgrade towers or summon more. However, if they use their time well and are able to "summon" the wave of monsters early, they will get bonus magic points, meaning they can upgrade their towers quicker. Finally, there is one card that regenerates over time. It is a handy weapon against hordes of monsters, so it is important for the player to keep an eye on the passing time in order to know when they can use it again. If a player doesn't keep pace and meet deadlines, they will fail at the level and not get as many cards and supplies to upgrade their hero and towers.
