See how well you can build an impenetrable village, train unstoppable troops, and join a strong, organized clan in the strategy game Clash of Clans. Defenses such as cannons, mortars, and archer towers are just as vital to success as a strong offensive army is. Diversify your army and overwhelm your enemies with troops such as War Wizards, Dragons, Giants, and more. You begin by fighting the Goblin King and conquering other individual territories but eventually get ready to start a full-on war with an enemy clan – with the support and participation of your own clan of course. May the best, strongest Clan win!

Clash of Clans contains cartoon violence but does not display any blood as armies do not attack each other – they attack building structures. Considering this, we recommend the game for players ages seven and older.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Organization

Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

photoA well-thought out layout to the player's village can be the difference between immediate defeat and proud success. Depending on his level, he has a limited number of wall units with which to protect things. Tactically speaking, it is wise to protect all essential buildings (resource storages, town hall, cannons, archer tower, etc) within walls and to leave non-essential buildings outside the walls (builder's huts, barracks, laboratory, etc). Also, individually surrounding each essential building with walls makes them even harder to destroy, allowing his cannons and other defenses more time to take out the enemy's attackers.

Additionally, starting a war is another game component where Planning and Organization skills together are invaluable. The player's Clan will likely be comprised of players of various levels and thus strengths. Clan members can directly work with each other to maximize the effectiveness of each member by coordinating who trains what troops and where they will attack. Those with stronger defenses can focus on training as many defensive troops possible while those with high level offensive troops can work on stocking up accordingly.

Where the troops themselves are placed during any battle (whether it's a war or campaign) is vital to the player's success also. Poor Organization is displayed when troops are randomly placed in battle. On the other hand, good Organization skills are utilized when the player directs the Giants to immediately destroy defenses such as cannons and mortars, for example, while Archers are released closer to the resources the player wishes to loot. This way the Archers can work on looting without being the target of heavy attacks.

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Building a village is not a once and done task. From building structures, resource collectors, and the troops themselves, upgrades are absolutely necessary to growth and success. The player is given two builders to utilize for upgrades, which take various amounts of time (depending on what is being upgraded). An upgrade cannot occur without the availability of a builder, therefore, upgrades should be prioritized. Also, looking ahead at future tasks helps him prioritize the upgrades. For example, say he wants to train a new type of troop - the Balloon - which is unlocked at a level 6 Barracks. However, he needs 80,000 elixir to upgrade the Barracks. Further, his current maximum capacity of elixir is less than 80,000, which means he must first upgrade his elixir storage before he can consider leveling up and unlocking a new troop in the Barracks. Without listing out the steps to create an order of upgrades, the player could assign a builder to a task that is not currently relevant or helpful in the most important task at hand (such as strengthening troops). A builder could be tied up for hours to days depending on the project, so it is very wise to think ahead in this context.
