Gudetama Tap! Is a click idle game where the user controls a camper and cooks up various types of gudetama, or lazy eggs. The player levels up by cooking gudetama and can unlock more complicated time consuming recipes. The player earns GP (gudetama points) and golden eggs to purchase items by poking the gudetama displayed on the plate. By taking their finger and tapping the screen, the player “pokes” the gudetama, provoking them into providing currency. Occasionally the gudetama will also provide soy sauce that is worth more money.

The game also features a friends mode where players can visit each others campers, help each other cook gudetama and even share gudetama with each other. An AR feature also allows for some game play in the real world, where the player and gudetama can take pictures together.

Gudetama Tap! Is a free to play game but some in-app purchases are available. It is available now on iOS and Android.

Gudetama Tap! helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

GP and Golden Eggs are finite resources in Gudetama Tap! So the player needs to be able to manage their in-game currency to purchase new recipes or unlock new features. Players who struggle with planning ahead may find that they cannot unlock new recipes in the game or need to wait for a gudetama to cook because they have already spent all of their currency. More GP can be earned by poking the gudetama but this is time consuming and the player could avoid doing this if they thought about what they wanted to do in the game before they even started to spend the in-game currency.

Self-Control: Managing our actions, feelings and behaviors.

Click games can be extremely addictive and hard to put down, even for adults. So players need to access their self-control skills and know when to put the game away and take a break. Because these games make it very easy to want to keep playing, it might be hard for players who struggle with self-control to know when it is appropriate to take some time away from their screen. Players who fit into this category should set a focus timer or a reminder to stop playing after a set amount of time. This way they can enjoy the game without becoming too involved in it that they miss out on other activities or fall behind in homework or chores.
