Pokemon Masters EX is a mobile game where you play as a Pokemon trainer who goes on adventures and hopes to compete in the Pokemon Master League. As you progress on your journey through the island of Pasio, you battle opponents in three on three matches, collect eggs to hatch for new Pokemon, and befriend other trainers who you can call upon to help during battles. As you continue to play, you must collect all five badges from Pasio’s PML leaders in order to participate in the league.

The game has several different ways to play including a story mode, a battle arena, co-op mode, and many other challenges you can participate in to earn currency in order to make purchases and obtain other synced pairs for your team.

Pokemon Masters EX is free to play but some features require in-app purchases. Due to the large amount of reading in this game, younger players may need the assistance of an adult to navigate the game’s menus and dialogue sections.

Pokemon Masters EX helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Flexibility: Shifting thinking and behaviors.

In order to be successful with your Pokemon battles in this game, the player needs to be able to constantly assess which sync pairs would be the best for a particular battle. Certain Pokemon are stronger against other types of Pokemon and will therefore be better suited for certain battles. Players also need to take into account the level of the synced pairs they are bringing into the battle and how hard they think the fight will be. For players who struggle with flexibility, the game does provide a clue about what type of Pokemon the enemy will be using in order for you to successfully choose the best synced pairs to use for your fight.

Planning: Becoming more systematic.

There are many different ways to battle and explore the island of Pasio with your Pokemon and having a good plan for how to do this will save you a lot of time and effort in the long run. Certain challenges or areas need to be unlocked by completing portions of the main story, meaning the player needs to use their planning skills and determine what they have to complete before being able to access other areas of the island/game. The player also needs to use their planning skills when determining how to spend currency in the game. If the player does not want to use real money to purchase things in the app, they need to budget their in-game currency and make purchases that will benefit their journey the most.
