Dream Walker gives a surreal twist and unique pacing to the popular running style games. The player is in charge of a girl who is dream walking. She begins moving very slowly. Each block she steps on glows and there is a small thump. This helps the player with pacing. As she walks, there are turns, as well as gravity defying, rollercoaster style twists and turns. The player must swipe in the direction they want the girl to walk, timing things perfectly with her steps (the glow) and taking into account any perspective shifts that may have changed things.

While walking through the girl’s dreams, the player will also collect stars and purple butterflies. When enough stars are collected, the player will be able to unlock new levels. If needed, the player can replay each level over (with a new pathway) in order to gain more stars. The purple butterflies are used to spin extra times on the prize wheel, where the player can earn costumes and other things for the main character.

Dream Walker has in-app ads and purchases available. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone and LW4K stands by this rating.

Dream Walker helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Self-ControlDream Walker

Managing our actions, feelings, and behaviors.

This game is great for practicing impulse control. As the girl slowly moves faster and faster, and the path twists and turns, the player can find themselves anticipating moves before it is actually time to make them. If they don’t keep these impulses under control, they will walk right off the path and have to start over.

This also leads to a great chance to practice working on anger and frustration management. Turning too early (or turning in the wrong direction entirely) can be very frustrating. If the player doesn’t keep their emotions under control, their reaction time will get worse and they will fail the level.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

Keeping pace is very important in this game. The player must time their swipe to turn so that it precisely matches the pace and steps of the girl. If they don’t, she will turn abruptly into open space and fall off the path. The player will then have to restart the level and will lose any stars that he or she has collected.
