Thirteen and a Half Cats helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Organization: Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.

As you bring cats back to the mysterious witch, she will give you new spells to use. These spells can then be used to rescue additional cats. The player needs to use their organization skills and keep track of which spells perform which action in order to save more cats. For players who struggle with organization, they may find themselves trying spells that do not fit the situation and take longer to complete the game. These players should look at their surroundings as well as the spells they have and try to match the spell to the situation. 

Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

The player receives their mission early on in the game. In order to discover who you are, you need to bring thirteen cats to the mysterious witch who finds you. The player needs to use their focusing skills to stick to the task, locate all the cats, and bring them back to the mysterious witch. Bringing cats back will get you additional spells and then you can go out and use them to discover more cats that need rescuing. If a player struggles with focus, they may find themselves wandering around the world without an idea of what to do next. Keeping the focus on finding the cats and matching the spells  to the situation is the best way to practice focusing skills.
