The Wonder-Juice Machine is a game in which players have to guide various ingredients into blenders to create smoothies. The ingredients enter the screen from a certain direction and continually move until they hit arrows, which are put in place at the start of the level. Players are only given a certain amount of arrows, and some arrows can only move ingredients of the same color, so players have to carefully decide where to position each one. Since the game features no offensive content, is relatively easy to control and requires no academic skills, it is recommended for players ages 6 and up.

This Game is Good for Kids Who Need Help With:

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

The Wonder-Juice Machine is good for kids who need help developing strategies that require foresight and the sequencing of steps. Since players must position all arrows at the beginning of the game, they have to think ahead and predict how each placement will direct the ingredients entering the screen. Some ingredients will have to change directions multiple times, and some arrows can only move ingredients of the same color. Since players have a limited amount of arrows to use, they must develop a sound strategy in order to win. If players don't carefully look over the positions of ingredients, their type and the amount of arrows in use, they'll likely end up losing and will be forced to start over.

Working Memory

Recalling and retaining information in her mind while working.

After a round of creating smoothies, players complete a mini-game which involves matching a variety of different smoothies with customers. Players are shown what kind of drink each customer wants, and must place the appropriate smoothie with the respective customer by process of elimination. For instance, one customer may want only a smoothie with grapes while another wants only a smoothie served in a particular glass. If there are two grape smoothies, each in a different glass, players must be sure not only to give a grape smoothie to the customer who wants grape, but also ensure they do not serve the grape smoothie in the glass the other customer wants. By keeping each customer's demand in mind while serving drinks, players can ensure they get all smoothies to the appropriate customers.
