Temple Run Puzzle Adventure is an Apple Arcade matching game from the makers of the Temple Run series. The player receives a package in the mail one morning; upon opening it they find a mirror that transports them to a mysterious island. On the island you meet the archeologist Scarlett Fox who explores the island with you.

In order to move across the island and unlock hidden features, the player must complete a series of matching puzzles. The player drags gems on a grid to make matching sets. Certain combinations create extra moves which can eliminate more gems.

Players need to meet the requirements at the top of the screen in order to progress to the next puzzle. Completing puzzles efficiently earns the player stars which correspond to movement on the map, i.e. three stars equals moving three spaces. Some buildings or features require a certain number of stars to open.

Temple Run Puzzle Adventure is free to play with a subscription to Apple Arcade. It is available now on iOS.

Temple Run Puzzle Adventure helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Flexibility: Coping with unpredictability.

Each puzzle in the game asks the player to amass a certain number of jewels or items to proceed. These items change from puzzle to puzzle, meaning that no play through is the same as another. Players need to use their flexibility skills in order to adapt to the changing circumstances and use the combination moves to help them get the number of gems/items that they need to solve the puzzle and move on.

Planning: Planning for solving and dealing with obstacles.

There are no time limits for the puzzles in the game, but the player does only have a certain amount of moves to get all the gems/items on their list. If they cannot do this before the amount of moves run out, they will need to repeat the puzzle. Players need to look at the puzzle before beginning to move pieces and figure out how they will connect gems together in order to get what they need. Players can also plan how they are going to use their combos and bonus skills such as the pick axe-these bonuses are finite, meaning that the player cannot use them for every single move in the puzzle. Being strategic about how the bonuses are used is another way to plan for success in the game.
