Addicting Games

In Tanks, players try to destroy their opponent’s tank before their own tank is destroyed. There are a variety of weapons to use, and more can be purchased between matches. Shots from the tanks can damage the environment to create artificial hills and valleys, which players can strategically use to their advantage. Tanks is a battle game, and as such, features explosions. Other than that, though, there is no violence or blood. The game is easy to learn, and only minimal reading skills are needed to navigate menus, making Tanks recommended for players ages 7 and up.

This Game is Good for Kids Who Need Help With:

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Players need to carefully plan their shots before firing, as many factors influence the path of a player's shot, such as wind speed and direction, tank position, and weapon type. Thus, players must carefully consider all of these factors when attacking, as a missed shot is all it takes sometimes to give the opponent the opportunity to win the match. Since the terrain can be manipulated by explosions, players can also create strategies that use hills, valleys and walls to their advantage. Tank upgrades and new weapons can also be purchased between matches, so saving up money and planning ahead to buy expensive items can help out immensely in more challenging levels.

Self-Awareness

Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings.

Each turn allows players to carefully consider their approach, allowing many opportunities for them to asses their thinking and evaluate their strategy. Players must take into consideration what was done well, such as the distance or angle of the shot, but also identify what could have been improved, like using a weapon better suited for the situation. The menu atop the screen shows players the cannon angle, wind direction and its force, which makes it very easy for players to monitor critical factors and make wise gameplay changes. Players who can asses their own thinking to optimize their approach will ultimately develop better strategies and achieve higher scores.
