Sumi Sumi is a matching game where students pair up adorable Japanese characters to clear the board and earn points. As students advance through the levels of the game, new characters are added and the rules of the board can change. Students can collect other characters by using the toy capsule machine function.
The student has a set number of moves to complete their objective, and can use various “power drums” to help them score more points. Characters that students own also have special power ups that can be used to earn more points. This is a great matching game for younger children and requires little reading other than the initial instructions.
Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
Each level in Sumi Sumi has different collection objectives and a different number of designated moves. This gives students the chance to practice being flexible and not letting a change in levels distract them from their goals.
Planning Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
Because students only have a set amount of moves to complete their objective, they need to plan their moves in order to successfully complete the level. Also when using the power drums, students need to plan their placement to obtain maximum points. Not planning might lead to students not completing the level’s objective.
