Pokemon Shuffle is a matching game where the student is trying to capture various Pokemon by matching Pokemon icons on a game board. As they match the icons, they have the chance to catch a Pokemon and use it to help them in future battles. Items can be purchased to further help move through more difficult levels. Because there is a lot of reading involved in the initial instructions, parents may need to assist younger children.
Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
Each level of the game presents a new Pokemon that needs to be defeated. Students need to be aware of the type of Pokemon they are fighting and be prepared with boost items and assisting Pokemon of opposite types. Without this they may not be able to defeat the Pokemon and will need to try again.
Planning: Problem solving and dealing with obstacles.
Because students have only a certain amount of moves on the game board to match icons and defeat the Pokemon, they must plan how they will attack before they act. Also, if there are remaining moves, it will be added to your overall score and increases the likelihood you will catch the Pokemon after finishing the level, so there is incentive to finish with as many remaining moves as possible. If students do not plan their attack out before acting they may not be able to catch the Pokemon in the available number of moves.
