Based off the popular Naruto Shippuden cartoon, players of this fighting game take control of various warriors from the franchise to do battle with their rivals and enemies. Players will use a unique blend of fighting moves to build up “Chakra Power,” dealing out damage until the opponent is defeated. Players can also be joined by allies in Story Mode, allowing a team of ninja’s to combine attacks to defeat powerful foes. Player’s can compete against the computer or other players in a standard battle mode that doesn’t include the Naruto storyline, removing dialogue for random bouts. Players can even take the game online for friendly competition. Reading is needed to learn the somewhat complicated controls, and as a fighting game, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations features moderate cartoon violence, but no blood. Due to these factors, the game is recommended to players ages 12 and up.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS THAT NEED HELP WITH:

Self Control

Managing our actions, feelings, and behaviors.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations requires players to conserve their use of Chakra Power, which depletes when a Chakra Attack is used. Overzealous use of powerful Chakra Attacks may seem like a good way to take out enemies, but can actually make players more vulnerable if not used in a balanced way. When running low on Chakra, players must stop their character and hold the charge button to regain Chakra Power, leaving themselves extremely susceptible to attack. In order to defeat the game's toughest opponents, players need to limit their use of Chakra Power, carefully picking and timing its use. Players must successfully balance their use of Chakra Attacks and normal attacks in order to ensure that they retain enough power to strike an opponent of when the opportunity arises.

Flexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

This game also requires good Flexibility skills, as players must use a variety of attacks to win, including normal combos, Chakra Power Attacks, Awakening mode, items, and a slew of other techniques. Because opponents can use the same moves, it is important for players to mix up strategies and master a variety of techniques. If players rely on a small set of maneuvers, opponents will quickly figure out how to predict and block their attacks, while simultaneously dealing counter-damage. If players wants to defeat the game's toughest opponents, they will have to make use all of the moves and items available.

Working Memory

Recalling and retaining information in her mind while working.

Working Memory skills are key to implementing each attack, as specific button commands must be memorized for a variety of maneuvers. Players must quickly recall what buttons to push for basic attack combos, special moves, defensive blocks, and doges -- all while in the heat of battle. For example, The Chakra Power attacks are first activated by pushing the Chakra button, and then the Attack button along with a specific direction on the analogue stick. Each direction unleashes a different move so players will need to memorize what each move does, and remember the command to activate it while playing. Because the action is very chaotic, players will need to know how to use these moves very quickly, as each button used in the game does something important.
