In this cartoon-ish take on the zombie apocalypse, the player controls a zombie hunter who catches and then juices a variety of zombies.  Zombie Catchers breaks these steps of the game into two different parts.

First, the player goes out into the swamps to catch the zombies. To do this they most look for signs of zombies, throw brains to lure out the zombies, and then hit them with a spear gun. This attaches a balloon to the zombie and floats the zombie into the sky. The player’s “partner” then comes and picks up the zombies in a flying vehicle.

Secondly, the player goes back to their place of business. Once there, they put the zombies into squeezers, based on the type of zombie the player has captured. Each type of squeezer requires a different number of zombies to operate. Once enough zombies are placed in the squeezer, the squeezers produce juice and customers buy it.

The player earns coins which can be used to purchase upgrades for their weapons or their squeezers. They are also given a set of missions. When the player has completed all of a set of missions, their shop levels up. There is also a drone, which finds the hidden zombies. The drone finds zombies in a certain amount of time or at certain level-ups, which ever comes first.

Zombie Catchers has ads and in-app purchases. The ESRB rated it E10+ and LW4K stands by this rating.

Zombie Catchers helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Zombie CatchersPlanning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Zombie Catchers provides planning practice on two different levels. The most obvious one is that the player has to plan how they are going to use their coins. The order that they buy upgrades will impact how successful their business is, as well as how quickly they can complete missions. If they don't have a plan for this, their progress in the game as a whole will be slow and potentially frustrating.

Planning is also important during the hunting phase of the game. As the player advances through the levels, the zombies become harder to catch. This means that the player has to start planning out things like where to attack from and where to hide while luring out the zombies. If the player doesn't have a plan, he won't catch as many zombies or earn the "perfect hunt" medals.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

Time management is important in this game for two reasons. First, the player has to be aware of how long the drone and the squeezers take and make sure they are doing their best to make the most of every zombie hunt they get to go on. If they aren't, they will spend a lot of time waiting around without advancing very far on missions. Second, they also have to be aware of the different speeds various zombie types can move, as well as the speed the zombie catcher moves. If they don't keep these different paces in mind, they will have a hard time catching zombies. And if they have a hard time catching zombies, everything else in the game will get harder too.
