Glitch Dash is running style game with a first-person point of view. The player avoids obstacles by swiping left, right, up, and down. On occasion, the world will shift and what used to be “up” will become left or right instead.

Another unique aspect of this game is the scenery: instead of specific trees, spikes, or other recognizable obstacles, the world is made up of abstract shapes in bright colors. There is also music with a strong beat to accompany the player on their journey.

The player not only has to survive the obstacles that make up each level, but must collect a set number of gems and a crown. Some of these gems and crowns are “hidden” behind obstacles and may not be noticed on the first time through the game. This means to fully get 100% on a level, the player may have to play through it more than once. Each level also keeps track of retries, checkpoints used, and shields used. When a player has completely finished a level they receive a trophy.

Glitch Dash offers in-app purchases and ads. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone.

Glitch Dash helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Glitch DashFlexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

While any running games require flexibility thinking skills to avoid obstacles, Glitch Dash takes it a step further. In Glitch Dash, the player has to be ready to adapt to the world turning on its axis. When up is no longer up, the player has to be very flexible or they will die and have to start the level over. This gives them the chance to practice both adapting to obstacles and coping with change.

Focus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

The pace of Glitch Dash is relatively fast. The abstract shapes and somewhat psychedelic color schemes enhance the feeling of a fast paced game. Whether it is falling off the path or running into an obstacle, things happen quickly. This means that if a player doesn't stay focused on the game, ignoring internal and external distractions, they can make a mistake in the blink of an eye. If they aren't paying attention, the player can miss out on a gem or crown or will die and have to start the level over.
