Dice Smash presents players with an arcade-like puzzle in which they must combine as many die faces as quickly as possible to keep the board clear as long as they can. Players tap squares to combine as many die faces showing the same number at that location, potentially creating a combo with multiple values. Play solo or against others online by linking the app to Facebook. The ESRB has rated Dice Smash E for Everyone. LW4K finds that Dice Smash‘s content is appropriate for all ages and gameplay is easy to learn, enabling kids as young as 7 to benefit from the thinking skill practice offered by the game.
THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:
Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
The board evolves as players combine various die faces, and new numbers will appear, meaning players will have to try and remove as many die faces as possible with a single action. This requires players to consider and plan where they tap not just to combine values in the moment, but to combine future numbers more easily, moving them in ways that will allow for this. Additionally, special values may appear which can wipe columns of numbers. When and where these are used need to be carefully considered.
Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.
When playing against others online, players only have a certain amount of time to play, making it necessary to combine numbers quickly and succinctly in order to get a high score. Considering how much time it takes to search for good combinations while balancing the time limit and the number of points that can be earned will allow a player to do well against opponents each round. Efficiency will not only allow a player to make more moves, it will help them get more points by getting rid of as many die faces as possible.
