Micro RPG is a mobile game where the player uses a variety of weapons to execute timed range attacks to defeat enemies. At the start of the game, the player starts with one character with three weapons; a sword, an axe, and a bow. Enemies approach the character on-screen and the player needs to choose between their different weapons to make targeted attacks. Each weapon’s damage has a range displayed as a circle and the area of attack rotates around that circle. The player needs to time their attacks so that the area of damage passes over the greatest number of enemies possible. Certain enemies will move out of range, and then the player needs to evaluate which weapon they will use for their next turn. Each level of the game has objectives that need to be reached in the form of numbers and types of enemies that need to be defeated. Each level also has a set amount of turns in which the player needs to complete those objectives.

Completing the main objective and the optional objectives will earn the player various types of in-game currency. Earnings in the game can be spent on chests that will unlock bonuses for weapons, upgrades for characters, and new characters. Currency can also be spent on leveling up and healing your selected character before going into the next fight.

The game also features daily challenges that can earn the player more in-game currency. Micro RPG is available for iOS and Android and is free-to-play. However, in-app purchases are available.

Micro RPG helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Time Management: Working under pressure

Timing and working under pressure are important skills for succeeding in Micro RPG. The player needs to work under timing pressure and judge when to tap their weapon as it covers the greatest number of enemies possible. This will ensure that the player does the most damage possible and reaches their objective within the turn limit. The player also needs to work under the pressure of the turn limit. The turns are not timed but they are finite, meaning that the player cannot just infinitely attack and hope to complete the objectives.

Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations

In order to successfully complete each battle and move through the five levels of the game, the player needs to be able to use their flexibility skills and adapt to the changing situations in the game. Each level brings new enemies, new attack patterns, and new objectives that need to be reached. Boss fights at the end of each level bring additional challenges that need to be overcome in addition to those of the standard enemies from the level. The player needs to assess the situation, choose the weapon that is the most appropriate for the current attack, or even which character will be the most appropriate for the current level.
