Jetpack Joyride is a fast-paced action game that tasks the player with taking control of Barry Steakfries, as he attempts to escape a research facility by commandeering an experimental jetpack. The goal is to fly as long as possible without crashing, collecting coins and grabbing power-ups along the way. Coins can be used to upgrade jetpack features and purchase other abilities, such as a head start on the next round. Due to the cartoon violence in Jetpack Joyride, the game is recommended for players 10 and older.

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
The fast-paced nature of this game requires players to deal with a constantly changing barrage of obstacles, requiring players to think fast as they dodge and weave through the screen. There are also a wide array of vehicles to use, each with their own unique advantages. No vehicle functions or operates the same, so the player will have to quickly learn each vehicle's characteristics while racing through the game. Success depends on the ability to transition from one way of playing to another as new hazards rapidly fill the screen and different vehicles are obtained.
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks
In Jetpack Joyride, the action never stops -- until Barry Steakfries does. Barry is constantly on the move, soaring through the laboratory and avoiding obstacles. Commandeering the jetpack is not an easy task, and there are a myriad of things to keep track of while flying. Coins, hazards, enemies and power-ups all fly through the screen super fast speeds. If the player does not give the game his complete attention, Barry will easily run into laser beams or currents of electricity, missing useful items and eventually crashing, causing the player to restart his attempt.
