Fish Hooks takes the player on an underwater journey filled with physics-based puzzles. The game features characters from Freshwater High, with the star player being Milo the fish. As Milo, the player has to balance the tasks of making and popping bubbles, in an effort to navigate his way to the exit, while attempting to capture all 3 apples. Be prepared for increasingly complicated and unique brain-teasing aquatic puzzles. Fish Hooks can be rather challenging, but considering that it does not require academic skills nor does it contain inappropriate content, the game is recommend for players as young as 7.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

The player will find that he greatly benefits in the game when he examines the level before jumping in. This helps him start to conceptualize the task and plan how to work through it. Essentially, he lays out the steps of floating, falling and flinging Milo through the maze, while snagging all three apples along the way. Many situations call for perfect timing, which of course means he needs to know what he's doing prior to going for it. A millisecond's difference in popping a bubble, for example, can mean floating away or missing a platform on the way down. Most of the time he will find himself with no time to think once he's started. When he immediately jumps in without putting much or any thought into a strategy, he will have a hard time making it to the exit, not to mention he might miss one or all three apples, which hampers his score.

Focus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.

It's pretty rare to reach the exit the first time playing a level, not to mention obtaining all three apples in the process. In order to make it to the end and collect all apples, the player will typically end up replay a level a few, to several, times before getting it just right. The key is to hone in on the puzzle and maintain focus and persistence. Also, the process of examining the level helps the player notice new things or ways of doing something. Strong Focus skills might be even more important with respect to timing. The timing of creating a bubble, sliding down a ramp, or bouncing on a turtle requires great precision. If he gives up too quickly or only affords the game intermittent attention, he will miss queues, make the same mistakes, and simply struggle to complete levels and maximize his score.
