In Cut The Rope, players are introduced to Om Nom, a mysterious monster who loves to eat candy. The goal of each level is to get a piece of candy into On Nom’s mouth, done primarily by cutting strands of rope via the touch screen. However, players will also have to avoid obstacles such as spikes and spiders along the way, making sure to maneuver the candy in just the right way in order to get it to Om Nom. Three stars are scattered across each level, and if players touch them with the candy, they earn a better score. Cut The Rope does not contain any inappropriate material and is easy to learn and is therefore recommended for players 5 and up.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Flexibility

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations

As players progress through the levels in the game, new challenges and tools are added to the mix. At first, the game starts with a simple rope cutting task, but harder levels add bubbles, which can help candy float across the box, and also balloons, which are meant to push floating candy in certain directions. Even the obstacles become bigger and more difficult to avoid. Players will get stuck if they do not adjust to the new tools introduced, and must learn how to use them correctly. By keeping and open mind and adapting to the new challenges, players will be more likely to find success in the game.

Time Management

Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.

With certain obstacles, such as spiders, Time Management is absolutely critical. The spiders will gladly take the candy away from On Nom so players must cut the rope before the spiders reach the treat, giving them a finite amount of time to strategize.

Some levels also require players to act quick before the opportunity to get a star passes. Useful bubbles may float away or the level may scroll automatically to the right, and if players take too long they may begin to lose stars. By using their time effectively and staying on the move, players will be able to earn more stars and ultimately unlock new boxes quicker.

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Players greatly benefit by examining a level before jumping in. By doing so, they are able to formulate what strategy will offer the correct and fastest way to get the candy to Om Nom. Also, there are numerous situations when the rope must be cut at precisely the right time in order to get the candy to fall into Om Nom's mouth. During these times, the player must think ahead and try to guess where the candy will go depending on when the rope is cut. If players jump right in without putting much thought into their strategy, they will make a lot more mistakes than if they had created a plan first.
