Colosseum Defense is a tower defense game that requires players to demonstrate strategy, foresight and adaptive thinking strategies in order to succeed. Players control a young boy who operates a cannon from his fortified tower. He must prevent enemies from breaching the castle walls and destroying it. Like many tower defense games, Colosseum Defense gets increasingly more difficult as new, tougher to defeat enemies approach with each ensuing level. Players will have to upgrade their weapons with coins that they accrue once they complete a level. There are Steel Daggers, Steel Bombs, Ice Axes, Automatic Crossbows, and many more different weapons; each possessing its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Players must understand the nature of each weapon and use them mindfully. Players can also upgrade the strength of their castle by purchasing stronger fortifications, their character, and special abilities, which can be purchased if the game funds are not sufficient. However, there is a high level of cartoon violence and blood, making the game best suited for children aged 12 and older.

Planning

Players must use a great deal of foresight while playing Colosseum Defense. Enemies approach the castle walls at different speeds. The faster enemies tend to be weaker and the slower ones stronger. Players must recognize the differences in speed and plan their attack accordingly. There are certain weapons that are better suited for slower enemies. For example, the steel bombs are very powerful, but have a slow fire rate. But when they are combined with the ice axes which freeze enemies in their tracks the bombs are much for effective. If players freeze the more powerful enemies first, they use use the bombs to eliminate them. Quicker enemies can usually be taken care of with the arrows or swords - weapons that have a fast firing rate. Because weapons have a limited amount of ammunition, players must conserve items that have smaller magazines for when the final wave of attackers appear. To survive this wave, players must have carefully managed their weapon use throughout gameplay. Although ammunition gets replenished, it takes time - and when enemies are quickly approaching - there is not must time to be had.

Flexibility

Players must exercise keen adaptive thinking skills while trying to rid the map of enemies. The varied speeds in which the enemies travel force players to think on their feet; learning from their mistakes very quickly. If several attackers reach the castle walls at the same time, the tower is inevitably destined to fall. Users must choose the weapon that will defeat a particular enemy fastest, so they can move on to the next attacker. Players are in constant state of transition, as they are likely to encounter more than one hundred different approaching attackers in any given level. Players will quickly learn how many times each enemy must be hit before they fall. However, more and more new foes are introduced with each level, and players are tasked to quickly learn their strengths and weaknesses, and adjust their gameplay strategy accordingly.
