Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Educational Game ReviewPlayers have to face off against a variety of enemies in Batman: Arkham Asylum, and many are armed with guns. Batman is strong, but he is not bullet-proof, so players need to stay in the shadows and develop a plan to take out enemies without being spotted. Using his cape and the tools on his Bat Belt, Batman can glide through the shadows, taking out enemies one by one. Some areas even have snipers, so players need to take enemy position into account as well, and stay out of well lit areas.  Players who don't take their time to develop a plan before running into battle will find themselves overwhelmed by enemy gunfire.

Working Memory

Recalling and retaining information in our minds while working.

Combat in Batman: Arkham City centers heavily around preforming combinations of attacks and defensive maneuvers to defeat enemies. Players will often find themselves heavily outnumber by large groups of thugs, so remembering the correct sequence of buttons needed to perform strong attacks and defensive counters is crucial for success. It is also important for players to remember what each move does, as Batman can stun, dodge block and confuse his enemies. Players that have difficulty remembering these defensive abilities will miss out on key chances to take down enemies, so learning the combat combinations and being able to recall them at moments notice is essential to achievement.
