In Angry Birds, the player is given a limited number of birds which are used as projectiles. The players slingshot the birds in an attempt to hit pigs that are protected by structures. These structures are made out of a variety of materials such as stone, wood, and glass. In order to beat the level, the player must hit all of the pigs either directly or with falling debris. However, players only have a limited number of birds, so they must plan their shots carefully. There is only comic violence in this game, and no reading is required for game play, so this game is recommended for players ages 5 and up.
Angry Birds is a great educational game for practicing Planning and Flexibility, and is available on iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android (including Kindle), Windows Phone, PS3, PSP, Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Chrome. Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.
In Angry Birds, the player is only given a small amount of birds to slingshot at the pigs. For this reason, the player must plan out each shot carefully and must accurately predict the consequences of his shot. For instance, players may use one bird to blast an opening in a structure and then use the next bird to hit the enclosed, and now unprotected, pig.
Also, once the player has progressed far enough in the game, he will be given different types of birds. Some birds, for example, can split apart if the player touches the screen after launching them. This new dimension will affect the player’s planning -- in order to avoid wasting shots, the player must take these factors into account before launching each bird.
Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
Structures are made from a variety of materials like wood and metal, with the thickness and sturdiness varying from level to level. Each level is set out uniquely, progressively becoming more and more complex as the player advances. This requires the player to dramatically change the way she strategizes. If the player doesn't try new strategies, she will often find herself getting stuck.
The new types of birds that are introduced also require the player to approach levels in new ways. The sequence the player launches the birds in is always changing, requiring them to adapt to the parameters of each level.
