Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals. Improving short-term planning.
Pages can aid users both in practicing and facilitating Planning when producing written documents. Writing is a construction process and creating a blueprint in advance works to increase the overall success of the piece.
Other features included in Pages can aid with the pre-writing Planning processes. The outline function can be greatly beneficial to users working on research papers, book reports, or other written pieces. It automatically creates an organized outline template using roman numerals for major categories as well as numbers and lowercase letters for subcategories and important points. Users can navigate between the different tiers of their outline adding and removing information where necessary. Creating a detailed outline of sources, points, and major paragraphs can both expedite the writing process and lead to a more quality final product.
Arranging and coordinating materials in order to complete a task.
Pages comes loaded with a wide variety of different templates, making it easy to create anything from a from letter, greeting card, resume to a brochure. These pre-made forms allow users to write their own content into a template, making it easy to organize and display information for a wide variety of needs.
Other features and options also help to keep longer written pieces organized. From adding footnotes for citations on research papers to paragraph formatting options, and the ability to add images to written content, users can create structured and easy to read documents with ease.
Finally, in order to keep track of written work and all related files and documents, users should create a digital space to store such information, giving files telling names and storing them logically into folders. An example would be having folders for different subjects and placing all work related to them within it.
Pages can be a great tool for encouraging and practicing writing and editing. Whether users have an academic assignment to complete or want to work on a creative project, Pages offers a great variety of tools for getting started, staying organized, and finishing with a well-polished work. Typing can be a great alternative to writing by hand, allowing users to edit their work easily and utilize the Planning and Organizational tools provided by word-processing software. Pages also allows users to “track changes” made to their work, placing a highlight on edited portions of their document and allowing them to make notes about their changes in the margin. Tracking changes can be an excellent way to trace a writer's development and editing process for teachers, parents, or peer proofreaders.
