Epic Win is a To-Do List app with a gaming twist. The user chooses from a list of fantasy-based characters and then sets out to level up and obtain treasure. This is accomplished by completing various “quests,” which is your daily to-do list.

To create your list, you select the day you want to create the list for, type in the chore and set an alarm reminder if necessary. You then assign it an amount of “Epicness” points, ranging from 50-300. Basically, the more cumbersome and time consuming a task it, the more Epicness points it earns. You then define what type of quest you are trying to complete: Strength, Stamina, Intellect, Social, and Spirit. Your character’s stats will increase based on what type of quest you assign to your different tasks.

As you complete your quests, your character receives experience and levels up. You can also receive items on your journey such as armor, helmets, etc.

Epic Win can also be linked with your Google calendar if you want to have two places to keep track of your quests.

Epic Win helps kids practice and improve the following skills:

Organization: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.

If the user struggles with remembering their daily tasks, a to-do list app is a great way to train their brain to keep everything organized. Epic Win’s gamified version of the to-do app makes this fun by providing incentives to set up and achieve “quests.” Users who struggle with organization or might be hesitant to use a tool to help them practice this skill might be more motivated to arrange and accomplish their tasks if it means leveling up their character or getting a new piece of equipment.

Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Planning out your day or a large project is an important step in completing tasks on time. If the user struggles with planning, having everything written out is a great way to see what needs to be done and then arrange their day in a way that makes the most sense. Users can add as many tasks as they want to their day in Epic Win; then they can click and hold on those tasks to move them up and down the list. This way, different tasks or “quests” can be prioritized over other less important ones. The gamified aspect of Epic Win also makes planning fun because you are achieving tasks to level up your character and acquire items rather than just simply checking them off.
