Zombie Beach Party has a simple premise: the player controls a zombie who is dancing around the beach and also turning other people into zombies to form a conga line. Along the way, the player has to avoid obstacles, avoid running into their own conga line, and do the limbo.
Players collect coins and use them to purchase upgrades or new zombies, or items from the store. Players may also unlock upgrades, other locations, and new zombies by reaching goals such as biting many humans.
There are in-game ads and purchases available. The ESRB rated Zombie Beach Party E10+ for infrequent or mild cartoon or fantasy violence. LW4K stands by this rating.
Zombie Beach Party helps kids practice and improve the following skills:
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
The Zombie Beach Party game board is relatively small. This means that the player has to stay focused on the game or they will run into obstacles or the edge of the board very quickly. They also have to be ignoring external and internal distractions in order to keep from running into the "tail" of their conga line, once they get a couple zombies added to it, anyway. And, because they are focusing on people, obstacles, opportunities to limbo, and their own conga line, the player will also be practicing shifting attention and focus between different tasks. And while the game can be short-term, the longer the player stays focused, the faster they will collect coins and unlock new features in the game, giving them the perfect opportunity to practice their long-term focus skills.
Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings.
Zombie Beach Party is about making sure the player's character doesn't bump into the things around him. This means that this game is a great chance for the player to practice their self-awareness skills. First, the player has to be aware of where the obstacles on the beach are. If they run into a beach chair, they will die. They also need to be aware of people so that they can bite them and add to their conga line. This can be extra tricky because the humans will actively try to run away from the zombie. And, of course, the player needs to be aware of where the coins are so that they can purchase upgrades and items. All of this means that the player has to be constantly scanning the environment around their zombie. If they don't use their self-awareness skills this way, they will die quickly and be unable to earn or purchase upgrades.
