Mysterium is a co-operative social mystery game, in which one player, the ghost, is trying to communicate with the remaining players to reveal who they were, how they died, and where it happened. The ghost provides cryptic cards in an attempt to guide the others toward the people, place, or thing cards they should be collecting, prompting the entire group to try to interpret and understand what the ghost is communicating. Players will have a somewhat limited amount of time to make decisions and will need the help of those around them to come up with good and intelligent conclusions. Once everyone has successfully obtained their set of three cards, the ghost will have one last chance to try and tell the others which set of cards is correct. If the group selects correctly, everyone wins. Mysterium is rated E for Everyone. LW4K recommends this game to players 5 and up.
Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations
As the ghost, you will need to adapt to the cards you have in your hand to give out as clues, attempting to provide cards that work well but aren't too distracting or difficult to parse out. Players will need to be open in their understanding of their clue cards, understanding that the ghost may not have the best clues to provide. This is a game of educated guesses and attempting to grasp at the truth behind the vague nature of the cards and clues. In this way, having a certain level of leniency in how you read the situation will help the team win in the long run.
Understanding our own actions, thoughts and feelings.
As the ghost, one must become understanding more of how other players will read the cards than how you will. You will have to become aware and understanding of what details another player might hang on to, or if a clue points too heavily towards one of the unassigned cards, drawing players in the wrong direction. Players need to be aware of their own tendencies of how they read or interpret the world around them. While they may be inclined to read situations in a specific manner, understanding that the ghost may not be doing the same is an important step in reading clues appropriately.
