BADLAND is a visually stimulating, sidescrolling action-adventure game, with a pleasant and tranquil soundtrack. The atmospheric graphics present a stunning forest that is home to various creatures, trees, and flowers. All is not as peaceful as it seems, however, as there is something amiss. It is up to the player to control a forest creature on a quest to uncover and solve the enigma. The task is no easy one, as he will quickly encounter various physics-based creative traps and unique obstacles. This is the incredible journey the player will immerse himself into when playing BADLAND. The game also offers a competitive local multiplayer option for up to 4 players. BADLAND is recommdended for players as young as six, in consideration of the ease of gameplay controls and lack of inappropriate or offensive content. Players are cautioned, however, that the game does become quite challenging in latter levels and may not be playable for younger gamers at that point.

Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
The game presents the player with a myriad of ever-changing (and fatal!) obstacles, from circular saws, explosions, squishing gears, falling rock, and more. In a single level, he may encounter any combination of obstacles, including some never-before-seen ones. Therefore, to complete even one level of BADLAND, his approach to the tasks will require multiple shifts in thinking and strategy. Within each level, he picks up clones of himself that become vital to completing the mission, as it sometimes becomes necessary to sacrifice clones in order to overcome an obstacle. For example, he may need one clone to stray off path to collect a powerup that shrinks your size, so that a different clone may fit through a small crevice. Unfortunately the first clone is sacrificed as it is impossible for it to catch up before the screen scrolls over him. The player has thus shifted between using two different clones in two different ways, in order to complete one task. Due to the nature of the game, mistakes are inevitable, so it's up to the player to learn and adjust from those mistakes. The challenges within each level are learning processes, and the quicker the player can adapt to the ever-changing obstacles, the better he will do in the game.
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
Considering BADLAND is a scrolling-screen game, this forces the player to keep a constant forward motion. If the screen catches up to him, he dies and the level is over. Thankfully the game does use checkpoints so he doesn't need to start each level from the very beginning each time. If all he needed to do, however, was float straight ahead, the game wouldn't be nearly as fun or challenging. The obstacles put the player's brain to the test, as he must not only solve the mini-puzzle, but he must do it swiftly, before the screen catches up to him! His ability to Focus all of his effort towards the task at hand allows him to achieve his goals in the timely manner that is required of him. He won't always succeed on the first try though, as each level and challenge is quite a learning process, but through sustained attention as well as some persistence, he will become accomplished.
