Jenny LeClue Detectivu is a point and click mystery/adventure game where the player takes on the role of a young girl named Jenny. Jenny is a character in a series of stories within the game and the author of the books finds out that his series is about to be canceled for not being interesting enough. He begins to re-write the story and this is where the player takes over as Jenny. She lives in Arthurton, a perfect town where nothing interesting ever happens. The problem is that Jenny LeClue wants more than anything to be a detective. So when a prominent member of the town is found dead and Jenny’s mom is the prime suspect, she needs to put all of her detective skills to work in order to save her mom. The player moves Jenny around the environment, looking for clues, talking to other characters, and putting together the clues she has found to solve various mysteries.
Jenny LeClue is rated E10+ and is available on the Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Steam.
Focus: Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
In order to solve the various mysteries within the game, the player needs to use their focusing skills and pay attention to the clues that they are finding. Occasionally a screen will appear with all of the clues the player has found and they will need to select the two or three that are connected to the question that needs to be answered. If the player is not focused, they may have a difficult time remembering what clues are needed to answer the question for that portion of the case.
The game is also fully voice acted, but for players who need a visual representation of the dialogue, they will need to focus by reading along with the subtitles on-screen.
Time Management: Working under pressure.
There are times within the game where Jenny needs to make a decision and two choices will pop up on screen. For example, if Jenny is talking to a character and that character makes a statement, Jenny might suddenly be presented with two on-screen options: to trust the person or not believe them. Based on what the player chooses, the characters will react differently. The player does not have an infinite amount of time to choose between the two options so they need to work under pressure, assess how they feel about the situation and choose their desired option quickly.
