There are many things for players to keep an eye on while playing the game, like the layout of their pumpkins, the number of items they have left, and the type of monsters approaching. Different monsters require a specific amount of pumkins to defeat, so players need to pay close attention not only to the location of the attacking monsters, but th type and number of them as well. Even attacking requires them to re-arrange their pumpkins into groups of three or more. In order to win, players need to be able to multi-task, maintaining focus on each of these factors in the game.

In between levels, players get to purchase pumpkin upgrades and items to use in battle. Some items help re-enforce defenses, while others aid players in attacks. Items are very important for later levels where monsters begin to overwhelm the screen, so players need to ensure the plan ahead and stock up on the items they find most useful before starting the next stage.
