In this puzzle game, players control a strange forest creature that must collect all of its misplaced offspring. Players move the forest creatures by picking them up and throwing them, tossing them across the levels to reach platforms, stun enemies, or hit switches to open pathways. Players must also be cautious of hazards scattered across the levels, ensuring the offspring avoid them and make it to the exit safely. The game features over a hundred levels, each testing players’ ability to navigate the offspring towards the exit as quickly as possible. Offspring Fling! is fairly easy to understand and play, but does feature some mild cartoon violence, so it is recommended for kids ages 7 and up.

THIS GAME IS GOOD FOR KIDS WHO NEED HELP WITH:

Focus

Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks

Offspring Fling! has players dashing through small environments, hurling the offspring around levels in order to figure out how to get them to the exit as quickly as possible. Solving the puzzles, at least earlier ones, may only take a few moments, but in later levels players will need to study the layout of the screen carefully to deduce how best to proceed. When finishing a level, players are graded based on how fast they beat it, and can replay the level as many times as they like to improve their score. Achieving a fast completion time and getting the best score possible takes persistent concentration, as players must absorb all facets of a level in order to figure out the most timely solution.

Self-Awareness

Understanding and articulating her own thoughts and feelings

Upon finishing a level players are given the opportunity to replay it to better their completion time and go for a higher score. When replaying a level the game will show a ghost figure of you performing your best attempt of that level. This is a convenient tool for players to use to judge their own performance. The ghost helps players see what they can do to improve their time, allowing them to catch any mistakes in their previous attempt. This process requires players to become aware of their thought process, enabling them to retool their strategy by figuring out what was working and what was not.
