Snow Kids: Snow Games is an old-school platformer game similar to Mario. The player controls a penguin with a snowball. The player moves him through a side-scrolling level where the penguin collects gems and throws snowballs at enemies. Any enemies that are hit by a snowball are frozen. Once frozen, the penguin can jump on or kick the enemy, which turns them into a popsicle or ice cream cone. The penguin can eat these for additional points.
Snow Kids: Snow Games has in-game ads and purchases. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone and LW4K stands by this rating.
Snow Kids: Snow Games helps kids practice and improve the following skills:
Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
In this game there are many different obstacles and combinations of obstacles. Many levels have new enemies. This requires the player to stay flexible and adapt. The way the enemies shoot, the speed they approach, and how they move all change the way the player needs to approach them. If the player doesn't stay flexible and adapt to the new obstacles in a level, they won't be able to complete the level or advance further in the game.
Being efficient and aware of our use of time and effort.
Being aware of timing and pacing is also very important in this game. The player needs to be aware of their snow kid’s speed, their snowball’s speed and bounciness, the speed of the approaching enemies, and how all of these things interact. They also need to consider similar pacing issues when judging the right time to jump or double jump. If they aren't exercising their time management skills and thinking about all of these things, they will end up crashing into an enemy or falling off a ledge. Either way, they will die and have to restart the level.
