In Blobber, the player must guide a blob around various levels in an effort to collect and absorb other blobs. Green blobs are safe to collect all of the time, but red blobs can only be absorbed once the player’s blob has grown to a certain size. Purple blobs and orange blobs cannot be collected at all. As the player’s blob grows, it will become harder to maneuver and make it more difficult to avoid dangerous blobs. Blobber features no inappropriate content and is very simple to play, making it suitable for ages 5 and up.
Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
In the first few levels of the game, the player only needs to deal with collecting green blobs while avoiding a single red one. After a few levels, though, the game adds numerous kinds of "yucky" blobs to avoid and increases the total amount of blobs occupying the screen. This makes it much harder to maneuver and avoid getting hit. To win, players have to progressively move faster and faster, becoming more adept at dodging danger as their blob grows larger in size.
Completing levels faster also increases the bonus points awarded, so players that improve their speed while collecting blobs and avoiding enemies earn a higher score.
Getting started and then maintaining attention and effort to tasks.
As the player proceeds, the screen is filled with more and more different kinds of blobs. Keeping track of them all becomes increasingly difficult, especially as the player's blob increases in size. In order to do well, the player has to stay focused and track the trajectory of the bouncing bad blobs, predicting where they will go next to avoid coming into contact with them.
Also, the player is rewarded for consecutively completing levels without having to retry, by earning bonus blobs. These score big points, so in order to earn a high score the player will have to stay focused intently on the action and not slip up.
