Rdio is a music-streaming application for personal computers and mobile devices. Users can search for specific artists, albums, or songs as well as browse the application’s popular and trending music. New discoveries or old favorites can be added to a user’s individual “collection” which is available across any device on which the user signs into Rdio. Users are also permitted to download music locally for listening when disconnected from the internet or mobile network. As an added benefit, users can make their listening experience a social one, sharing artists, songs, albums, and playlists with friends, family, and the Rdio community. Rdio is free to try, but requires a subscription to continue listening and sharing beyond the trial. This app contains no inappropriate material itself (though parents may want to monitor musical selections), is easy to use and comes recommended for any use with children ages 6 and up.

rdio now playingSeeking out and discovering new music is an excellent way for users to exercise Self-Awareness, as music can serve as a mode for developing a sense of identity, tapping into personal tastes and developing views. With an enormous library to choose from, Rdio encourages users to expand and broaden their musical palette. Whether trying tracks shared from friends and family, reading reviews, or simply browsing the trending categories, users are given ample opportunities to discover music in a favorite genre, listen to a new album by a favorite artist, or try something completely new. Rdio's expansive library has music for any occasion or moods -- users will find upbeat and energetic tracks for exercising, quiet and mellow ones to relax to, or therapeutic music for concentration. With such an enormous back catalogue of music, Rdio can meet the needs of virtually all tastes and preferences.

Planning

Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals.

Rdio can help users practice the Planning thinking skill in a number of ways. Whether creating a playlist for their next jog, background music for homework, or a nice album to relax to after a stressful day, users are afforded the opportunity to construct an optimal playlist for any future occasion. As an added benefit to a Rdio subscription, users may download music for local listening when disconnected from the internet or mobile network. While this feature is perfect for users who are on the go or those who want to avoid using large amounts of data, it does require forethought and planning. Users must decide which music to download and carry with them, as songs and artists that are not downloaded will be unavailable without an internet connection. Users must exercise Planning in each of these circumstances, and Rdio makes the process of doing so simple and hassle-free.
