Moonlighter is a roleplaying/rogue lite game where you play as Will, a young man living in a crumbling town at the edge of a series of dungeons. The town sprung up as a result of adventurers seeking fame and fortune in the dungeons but now things have fallen into disrepair. Will has inherited the shop from his grandfather and needs to make sure that the adventurers in the town have what they need. This means running the shop by day and plundering the dungeons by night to obtain a stock of items for the store. Will can also receive quests from different adventurers by talking to them and finding out what items they need the most. Placing items out for sale and calculating their price is also an important part of the game because it directly correlates to how much money you can earn in the shop.
Moonlighter is rated E 10+ and is available for PC, Xbox, Playstation, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
Planning: Developing a systematic approach for setting and achieving goals
In order to make as much money as possible in your shop, the player needs to plan out what they will sell each day, how many of each item they will put out for sale, and how much they will charge for each item. When adventurers come into the shop and look at items, you will be able to tell from their facial expressions whether or not they are happy with the price of the item. Putting out too many of the same thing will also flood the market and make an item much less valuable. The player needs to strike a balance and plan out exactly how they will make the most profit each day.
The player also needs to plan out their inventory. When heading into the dungeons, Will has a limited amount of inventory space, meaning you cannot carry back everything that you find. This means that the player needs to look at what items they have found and take the ones they believe will be the most valuable. Also, certain items need to be placed in your pack in a specific spot, meaning that you will need to plan for their placement as well.
Flexibility: Adapting and adjusting to changing conditions and expectations.
When entering the dungeons, Will never encounters the same sets of rooms twice. This means that the player needs to use their flexibility skills to be prepared for whatever they may encounter. Dungeons can contain treasure, information about the story itself, or difficult boss encounters. By using flexibility, the player will be able to navigate any situation they come across.
